I took the two youngest kids to Wild Adventures Theme Park in Valdosta, Georgia, so I wasn't able to play Heroclix this weekend. On the way home, I decided to find the local comic shop in Valdosta since the Wizkids website said they offered Heroclix. Plus, there a was post on a thread on HCrealms, that had discussed a case of Fear Itself that had been placed on sale on Ebay and the area code of the seller was 229, which is south Georgia.
I'm glad we stopped by! We found the shop and met the owner and as luck would have it, he and a customer had just sat down to play a game. Turns out they do tournaments and had done the Fear Itself First Month tourney. They did not have a large selection of boosters for sale but did have a couple of trays of loose Clix. My daughter was very happy to get a Cyborg, as she wants a Teen Titans team (she now only needs Starfire) and Ryan picked out a Black Knight.
We talked for a bit and then the owner said 'Well, I want you to come up for a tournament, so hang on...' and walked into the back room. He came out and handed me this:
Cool! I had not even seen the Book of Skulls yet!!
The customer, who said he has been playing since Heroclix first came out, then mentioned that I would need a hammer so the owner went back for a Kuurth's Hammer!
That's how you get people to seriously start to plan on driving 90 miles one way for a Heroclix Tournament!
Earlier this week, I was looking through Ebay and came across a listing for a brick of Galactic Guardians Marquee figure. I didn't do any research and figured 10 figures for a $5 bid was ok. I ended up winning the auction and get the box this week. It is a brick, 10 Heroclix, but 10 Clix of Nova Prime.
Well, now I know that a brick of marquee Galactic Guardians is a brick of one figure. That being said, it is a pretty cool Clix with a neat idea that I will have to try one of these days:
STEAL THE POWER OF THE NOVA FORCE: As a free action, you may deal 1 unavoidalbe damage each to any number of other friendly characters with the Nova Corps keyword. For each damage dealt this way, choose one: 1) Modify this character's attack and damage values by +1 this turn or 2) At the beginning of your next turn, heal this character of 1 damage.
That would be fun to pull off in a game. (And did anyone notice the spelling mistake on the power?)
And to top off a pretty full week of Heroclix, soon after getting home I got an email from a guy that had around 100 Heroclix for sale for $35.00. Stay tuned!
